Since 2007, Ascott Europe has supported Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, a French charitable association that helps children with heart defects around the world to receive treatment in France. The charity also supports the training of doctors from the countries where the children come from.
Every June, 12 doctors from Africa and Asia are invited by Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque to participate in an accelerated training course in pediatric cardiology. This initiative will help the doctors to acquire the best pre-operation diagnosis and the necessary knowledge to monitor the children who have been operated on.
For the seventh consecutive year, Citadines is providing complimentary accommodation for these doctors in Paris for one month during their training. In addition, Citadines launched a fundraising campaign, “Lumières Citadines du Coeur”, which means Citadines Heart Lights, from March 20 to April 17 to raise funds for cardiac operations.
A big screen in the lobby of Citadines Prestige Saint-Germain-des-Prés was lit up progressively when a donation was made, displaying photos of the children saved and the names and photos of donors who wished to see their names on the screen.
Throughout the event, the serviced residence also held an exhibition featuring the charity's ambassadors, renowned artists and celebrities, with children saved by the association. These portraits were auctioned to contribute towards the cardiac operations. Visitors could also pay to have their portraits taken at the photo booth set up at the exhibition.
A total amount of €36,000 was raised, contributing to operations to save three children.
