Iskandar Puteri

Send This

Few urban land projects are as ambitious in scope and vision as forward-thinking Iskandar Puteri.

Part of the sprawling 550,000-acre Iskander Malaysia development and conveniently located less than 30 minutes from Singapore and Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri is a meticulously planned “sustainable city” poised to become one of Southeast Asia’s most unique business, residential, and tourism centres. Purpose built on a clean slate, there’s no place quite like it anywhere in the region.

It’s already home to such cutting-edge developments as higher-education hub EduCity and Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, not to mention world-class medical facilities, the gleaming Puteri Harbour waterfront, and major tourist attractions like LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort. Iskandar Puteri planners will maintain this considered balance of commercial and lifestyle interests as they continue work on the city’s expansion into the next decade.

The future, indeed, is bright for Iskandar Puteri—but the present sure looks good, too.

Getting Around

Two airports serve Iskandar Puteri. Senai International Airport is located in Malaysia, about 32 kilometres outside of Johor Bahru, while Singapore Changi Airport, which offers more international connections than Senai, is in adjacent Singapore.

From Senai, the easiest and most comfortable way to reach Iskandar Puteri is by white limousine taxi. The taxi queues are located outside the arrival terminal; fares are a flat rate of RM68 (US$16.80) to either of the two Somerset serviced residences in Iskandar Puteri.

From Changi, the Transtar Cross Border Service offers bus service between the airport and Larkin Terminal in Johor Bahru, from which you can take a metered taxi to Iskandar Puteri. Buses depart every hour from 8:15am to 11:15pm. Tickets are S$10 (US$7.40) for adults and $5 (US$3.70) for children.

Many areas within Iskandar Puteri are walkable, though rental cars, taxis, and shuttle buses are also convenient means of transportation.

By Taxi

Taxis are an affordable way to get around Iskandar Puteri and greater Johor Bahru. Fixed rates using a prepaid voucher system apply for certain journeys, such as from Senai International Airport, but otherwise fares start at RM3 and increase in small increments. Additional fees apply for incurred tolls and late-night service.

With the exception of set rates, public taxis are otherwise required by law to adhere to metered fares. Most rides taken within Johor Bahru should not exceed RM15 (US$3.70), depending on traffic.

Staff at your Somerset serviced residence can book taxi services by telephone, though small fees will apply. Uber is available in Johor Bahru (and Singapore), as well.
