When night falls, the Malaysian capital takes on a different shine. With Changkat Bukit Bintang still leading the charge, the party has also spread out to outlying districts such as Bangsar and Petaling Jaya. Here are four places to check out if you are looking for a nice tipple or good party:
Sky Bar - There’s no better place to soak in KL’s cityscape than Sky Bar. Located on the 33rd floor of Traders Hotel, this upscale cocktail bar is downright sexy with its steel and glass structure. Settle in to one of their cosy cabana booths and enjoy stunning views of the skyline, which includes the Petronas Twin Towers.
Pisco Bar - Pisco Bar is a step above the usual Bukit Bintang cacophony. Located just a stone’s throw away on Jalan Mesui, the two-storey tapas restaurant, bar and club is currently one of the hottest spots in KL. The restaurant serves up a mean ceviche, while the bar and club are equally known for their signature cocktails and own brand of techno, deep house and funk music.
Havana Bar and Grill - If you’re looking for some riotous fun, look no further than Havana. Having been around since the late 90s, the place is an institution amongst the Bukit Bintang brethren. Home to lots of live music, yummy drinks and recently, a Cajun style menu, you would almost definitely wind up spending more time here than originally planned for.
Zouk KL - An outpost of the legendary Singaporean club, Zouk KL recently uprooted from its initial location to move deeper into the city centre. The RM38 million overhaul now houses several smaller clubs, VIP and member’s lounges, a cafe and rooftop deck and private lifts, amongst other extravagant aesthetics. With six different rooms that span a whole gamut of genres, there’s always something for everyone here.
Blue Elephant - Tucked away behind the facade of a corporate services company in Plaza Damansara, this speakeasy comes with another twist. The cinema themed bar invites customers to interact with its props to tailor-make your own experience. A DJ plays from Wednesday to Saturday, and the bar serves up some seriously Innovative cocktails, that they pair nicely with a box of popcorn.
