The Ascott Limited Moves Into Taiwan With Local Representative Office
Ascott International Management Pte Ltd (AIM), the managing arm of The Ascott Limited (TAL) has set up a local office in Taiwan on October 1st, 2000. With over $550 million in assets, TAL is a listed company in Singapore that manages or owns about 2,700 quality serviced residences in eight cities, namely Singapore, London, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai. A pioneer of the purpose- built luxury serviced residence concept in the Asia Pacific with the opening of The Ascott Singapore in 1984, the new representative office aims to increase awareness of the concept of serviced residence in Taiwan and capture at least 8% of the local corporate business traveller market.
"Ascott International Management's Taiwan representative office will be tapping on the pool of business travellers as well as Taiwanese expatriates who are relocating and are looking for an accommodation alternative, besides a single room in a hotel. With Lily heading the office, are confident that in a year's time, the corporate business travellers in Taiwan will enjoy learning and experiencing the concept of staying in a serviced residence." said Mr Bert Kan, Senior Vice President, Operations and Marketing, TAL.
Ms Lily Chang, a familiar face in the hospitality circuit with 16 years of experience in top-notch hotels such as Holiday Inn Crown Plaza Taipei and Lai Lai Sheraton Hotel Taipei is excited about her new challenge. She said "In Europe, the concept of serviced residence is a sophisticated and mature one. Here in Asia Pacific, there's lots of room for growth, and especially so in Taiwan where I believe not many Taiwanese are knowledgeable of the product. I am challenged to help educate and grow the Taiwanese market." Said Ms Lily Chang,
"A serviced apartment is a residential unit that has the full facilities and services of a fine hotel. It offers guests the flexibility of being able to cook in their fully-fitted kitchen and to entertain their guests. With a bigger living area, that usually comprises a Master bedroom, at least one other bedroom, a study, a living and dining area." explained Ms Lily Chang.
"The typical experience of a guest's stay with us would begin when they walk into the cosy lobby and be greeted by the 24-hour Concierge. In their suite, they will find a self-contained unit with separate living and dining areas, fully-equipped modern kitchen and bedroom with en suite bathroom. Guests will enjoy modern amenities such as TV with cable and satellite channels, home entertainment system, IDD telephone with voice-mail facility and in-room personal safe. Simple but essential items like steam iron, ironing board and hair dryer are not forgotten too.
To unwind, an indoor heated pool is available to ease the day's stress away. The fitness-conscious guests can make full use of the well- equipped gymnasium or tennis court. Alternatively, relax in the lounge where the guests will find an assortment of magazines, foreign and local newspapers. A comprehensive range of business centre services is also available to meet the needs of the business traveller. Now won't you want to stay at one of our serviced residence?" smiled Ms Chang.
