The Ascott Singapore Is First Serviced Apartment To Have Mobile Extension Service For Guests

Mobile system allows guests to be connected on their apartment phone number wherever they are in Singapore

The Ascott Singapore, the flagship property of The Ascott Limited has an agreement with SingTel Mobile to provide an innovative mobile extension service for all its guests in the 153-units serviced residence located on Scotts Road.

The Ascott Singapore, the first purpose built serviced residence established in 1984, prides itself in continuously upgrading its services to meet the changing needs of guests. Mr Peter Werry, who has been staying with TAS for 11 years is elated with this latest service, "I can now be contacted at all times via one number and for my company it's simpler too in terms of billing since they will only be paying one bill."

General Manager of The Ascott Singapore, Mr Daniel Chia, said "We have invested more than S$300,000 for the hot billing system, the new PABX system by Lucent Technologies and the mobile phones. By providing this service for our guest it will take us one step ahead of our competitors as we continue to look for innovative means for our guests."

Explaining how the system works, Mr Chia said, "The mobile extension service comes complete with Panasonic GD90 mobile phones which are linked to the apartment directly so that our guests will not miss a single call. And when they leave their apartment, with the mobile phone, they can be contacted anywhere in Singapore. There are no rental costs involved and all call charges are posted to guests' apartment automatically. Should a call be unanswered, an SMS message will appear on the guest's mobile phone to alert him of any voicemail or messages left by the caller. Our guest can then call in to access the Ascott voicemail and retrieve the voice messages. We have sourced for various similar systems, and decided on one that includes a main system from Lucent Technologies as the combination appeal to us as the one that will best meet our guests needs."
