Ascott Appoints Area GM In Manila

Manila, August 23, 2004 -- The Ascott Group has appointed Mr Arthur Gindap as its Area General Manager for Manila. Mr Gindap will oversee the operational performance of the group’s three serviced residences in the city, with emphasis on sales and marketing, brand building, and maintaining Ascott’s product and service delivery standards.

"Arthur has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, having held senior positions in several international hotel groups in various countries. He will be able to harness this expertise to drive performance at Ascott’s Manila operations," said Ascott’s chief executive officer, Mr Cameron Ong.

Ascott is a leading international serviced residence chain with 13,800 serviced residence units in 39 cities in 16 countries. In Manila, Ascott operates the 138-unit Somerset Millennium, 150-unit Somerset Salcedo and 116-unit Somerset Olympia serviced residences in the prime Makati City area.

Previously general manager of the property division at The Mulia Group in Jakarta, Mr Gindap has 15 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked for international hospitality companies such as The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Swiss-Belhotel International and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. He holds a diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Administration in Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada.

Mr Gindap’s work in redesigning operational systems, sales and marketing and guest recognition programmes has contributed to the hotels he managed winning awards. These include the Prime Minister’s Quality Award won by Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and the Five-Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Services won by the Hotel Mulia Senayan in Jakarta when he was resident manager of the hotels.
